John Gareth Llewelyn

Gareth was born in 1956 in Aberystwyth and spent most of his childhood in Dolgellau before moving to Llandyrnog in Denbighshire, speaking mostly Welsh until the age of 8.
After graduating from Cardiff Medical School he worked in the neurology department at the Royal Free Hospital, London, where he completed a doctorate in peripheral nerve abnormalities in diabetes mellitus. Gareth was appointed as a neurology consultant at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in 1996.
