Mohiuddin Khan Umarkhanji Malik, the oldest son of Umar Khanji Malik and Liluba Sakhina Bibi Malik was born in Viramgam, Gujarat, India. His home was in Dasada, Gujarat but from an early age Mohiuddin attended St Mary’s High School in Mount Abu—a Rajasthan boarding school run by the Congregation of Christian Brothers in India—with his younger brother, Sikander.
A strong unity bound Mohiuddin with all his seven siblings but he was closest in age to Sikander. Mohiuddin, Sikander, and one of their younger brothers, Hamid Khan Umarkhanji Malik, overcame smallpox as young boys but the virus took the life of their older sister, Sejuba.
At St Mary’s, Mohiuddin and Sikander were inseparable. Both far from home, Mohiuddin would help 5 year old Sikander and, whenever he earnt a sweet, he would save it so they could enjoy it together.
