Individual senior staff members at the hospital where the neonatal nurse Lucy Letby worked could face prosecution for gross negligence manslaughter after Cheshire Constabulary widened its investigation.
Police have been investigating the Countess of Cheshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for possible corporate manslaughter since October 2023, when Letby was convicted of murdering seven babies, but have now announced that they are looking into the possibility of charges against individuals for gross negligence manslaughter.
Gross negligence manslaughter carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. Police have not named the …
