Thousands missed routine screening because of incomplete GP registrations

More than 5000 people missed out on routine screening because their GP registration was not completed correctly as a result of an error dating back to 2008, NHS England has said.
The problem affected screening invitations for abdominal aortic aneurysm and bowel, breast, and cervical cancers. Other screening programmes have not been affected.
Up to 10 patients who were not invited for screening have subsequently been diagnosed with a relevant cancer and a further 10 who were not invited may have died from a relevant cancer, health minister Ashley Dalton told the House of Commons …
