We seek an experienced Paediatric Palliative Care Specialist to join our team. based at Starship National Children’s Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand.

About the role

Starship Children’s Hospital, the leading tertiary hospital for child health care in Aotearoa (Auckland, New Zealand), has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Palliative Care Paediatrician. This is a unique opportunity to work with an experienced and professional Paediatrics team in a broad variety of practice within a tertiary children’s hospital.

The Starship Palliative Care Service provides specialist paediatric palliative care to children with serious illness (life-limiting or life-threatening conditions) and their whānau across the Northern region (Te Toka Tumai, Counties Manukau, Waitemata & Te Tai Tokerau). The Palliative Care Paediatrician is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing children who are patients within the service.

To work as a Senior Medical Officer in New Zealand, you need to be registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ). Practitioners must meet competency standards and hold Annual Practising Certificates (APCs) to work safely and effectively. About the Team

Based at Starship Hospital, Grafton, we are a friendly, hard-working and motivated service that provides expert assessments and interventions for children and adolescents and their family/whānau attending the Starship Services. Our team consist of senior medical officers, nurse specialists, a psychotherapist, a social worker and team administration.

Salary and benefits

With 6 weeks of annual leave and 12 paid public holidays, you have time to explore our beautiful country and raise a family in our diverse communities.  Along with your base salary, you will have ongoing professional development and support with relocation.

  • Medical Officers' annual salaries range from NZ $142K - NZ $210K, plus allowances.
  • Medical Specialists' annual salaries range from NZ $185K - NZ $267K, plus allowances.
