Paul J Simpson

Paul is The BMJ’s international audience editor and joined the journal in 2017. He previously worked as deputy editor of PLOS Medicine, and before that was a research associate at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology at the University of Cambridge. He received his PhD in biological sciences from the University of Birmingham in 2007 and his BSc in biochemistry from the University of York in 2003.

Organisational

I’ve been a regular member of the MSF Scientific Days Editorial Committee, which I have done on a volunteer basis. However, I received a small consulting fee from MSF in 2019 for additional work on the 2019 MSF Scientific Days.

In 2022 I was invited onto the hiring committee for the Editor in Chief position of the Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ). For my role as Peer Editor on the committee I received an honorarium from the Canadian Medical Association.
