Spotlights

The BMJ's Spotlight series launched in September 2010 and was modelled on Nature’s Insight supplements, commissioned by the journal’s editors, and perhaps sponsored by one or more organisations.

The latest Spotlight topics were on patient centred care, published in February 2015, and sponsored by DNV.GL In September 2015 the journal published a collection of articles about women’s, children’s, and adolescents’ health, in partnership with the World Health Organization.

The first Spotlight topic, Palliative care beyond cancer, was chosen by readers via a poll we ran in 2008:

• Achieving a good death for all
• Recognising and managing key transitions in end of life care
• Having the difficult conversations about the end of life
• Dying matters: let’s talk about it
• Spiritual dimensions of dying in pluralist societies

The second series of Spotlight articles, published in March 2012, looked at the health impacts of climate change:

• Politics and policies: making change happen
• Climate change and resource security
• The world on tilt
