UK workers during the pandemic: inadequate protection and, consequently, increased risk

There are striking similarities, as well as differences, between the shortcomings in protection and consequent increased risk to UK and US workers during the covid-19 pandemic.1
Extant UK law should have served well during this time. Instead of striving to fulfil their legal duty, however, many UK employers opted merely for “public health guidance,” which explicitly did not commit to fulfilling health and safety statute.2
